“Contemporary World Order and Iqbal” held at KU | KNO

Srinagar, March 13 (KNO): Iqbal Institute of Culture and Philosophy University of Kashmir organized a two-day national seminar entitled “Contemporary World Order and Iqbal” in which various Iqbalain scholars presented their papers relevant to the title. Prof. Muhammad Aslam Islahi, a reputed Islamic scholar and faculty member at the Department of Arabic Jawahar Lal Nehru University Delhi, was guest of honour on the occasion. Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof. Talat Ahmad in his inaugural lecture said that Iqbal is relevant for all times and he is the poet-philosopher of future. According to a statement issued to KNO, he added such seminars are fruitful and bring out the best in scholars and directed to organize more seminars of this kind. Coordinator Iqbal Institute of Culture and Philosophy Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai in his key note address said that he sincerely believes in the philosophy of Iqbal as it guides every man in almost every aspect of his life. He said Iqbal’s thought is relevant to contemporary world order and will be relevant in times to come. Iqbal derives his thought mainly from Quran and that makes him relevant today and always. Among the other paper presenters were Dr Abid Gulzar, Senior Assistant Professor of Persian (CCAS) University of Kashmir whoenunciated about the need of Iqbal’s concept of Ijtihad in the contemporary world. Dr. Rukhsana Rahim department of Urdu Central University of Kashmirrevealed about the contemporary world and the relevance of Iqbal’s philosophy and need of disseminating hisprose and poetry. Head of department ofArabic Islamic University of Science and Technology Dr. Abdul Majeed Andrabi expressed his views about the greatness of man and Iqbal. Other paper presenters include Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Lone from Sociology, Waseem Iqbal Nahvi Ph. D scholar Urdu department, Abdul Manan Khan Ph. D scholar IslamicStudies. Coordinator Iqbal Institute. Dr. Mushtaq Ahamd Gania in his concluding remarks thanked Vice Chancellor and other faculty members and scholars for their support for making this seminar a success. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai also thanked chief guest Prof. Mohd Aslam Islahi and other paper presenters for their support.(KNO)
